Visita ao Museu Holocausto
Duas turmas pertencentes à Escola Secundária Anselmo de Andrade, participaram numa visita gratuita ao museu do Holocausto do Porto, situado na Rua do Campo Alegre, para celebrar a Noite dos Cristais (Kristallnacht).
Os alunos das turmas 10.ºB e 10.ºC, partiram às seis horas da manhã para a cidade do Porto e chegaram por volta do meio dia.
Ambas as turmas fizeram uma pausa para o almoço no Centro Comercial da Cidade do Porto, e após o almoço, dirigiram-se para o museu.
Na visita ao museu, os alunos encontraram uma linha férrea, onde estava escrita a seguinte frase: ARBEIT MACHT FREI (O trabalho liberta) e no fundo dessa mesma linha férrea estava uma imagem com um edifício onde terminava essa mesma linha.
Ao longo da visita, podemos observar como os judeus eram tratados nos campos de concentração, onde dormiam e como eram feitas as camas.
Nalgumas salas do museu, localizava-se documentos de alguns judeus que se refugiaram noutros países, um deles Portugal.
Numa sala maior, podia-se os nomes das vítimas do Holocausto.
Já na última sala do museu, foi projetado um documentário sobre uma das sobreviventes ao Holocausto, no qual contava a sua história, de como sobreviveu num campo de concentração.
Com a conclusão da visita, os alunos conseguiram aprender mais sobre o Holocausto, de como os judeus viviam naqueles locais e as suas histórias. Conseguiu-se perceber, que mesmo após muitos anos, ainda existe ódio face aos judeus (não só aos judeus, como também a pessoas de religiões/países diferentes) e que ainda existem pessoas com ideias iguais ou parecidas ás de Adolf Hitler, no século XX.
Visit to the Holocaust Museum
Two classes from Anselmo de Andrade Secondary School participated in a free visit to the Holocaust Museum in Oporto, situated in Campo Alegre Street, to celebrate the Night of the Broken Glass (Kristallnacht).
The students from classes 10ºB and C, left school at 6 a.m. to Oporto and arrived there around noon.
Both classes took a break for lunch at Centro Comercial da Cidade do Porto, and after lunch, they went to the museum.
At the museum, the students found a railway line on the floor, at the top of the railway line, it could be seen a sentence saying: ARBEIT MACHT FREI (Work sets you free) and on the front wall, there was an image of a building where the railway line ends.
During the visit, it could be spotted photos of how badly the Jews were treated in the concentration camps (also known as death camps), as well as where they slept.
In another room, there were photos and documents of some Jewish people that ran away from those concentration camps.
On the walls of a bigger room, there were the names of all the victims that died at that time so, all the visitors could remember all the deaths that were caused by the Holocaust.
By the end of the visit, there was a screen in which was projected a small documentary of a lady that survived the Holocaust and, in the documentary, she spoke about how hard her life was inside the concentration camp. The lady is still alive today to tell the people her story.
With the conclusion of the visit, the students learnt more about the Holocaust, how the Jewish people lived in those concentration camps and their stories.
The students could understand that, even though the Holocaust was years ago, there’s still people that hate Jewish people (not only Jewish people but other kinds of people that are considered different) and that agree with Adolf Hitler’s ideals.
